Where do I begin…
…to tell a story of how great a love can be…

Arts
* instruction
* collaboration
* research
* healing

I often wonder at distinctions and boundaries within the arts; living with questions about the parameters that encompass and overlap: art instruction, curative education, fine arts, healing/therapeutic processes and aspects of art research and community building…?

I believe it develops/evolves according to the attention and intention of those involved..

Years ago I considered ‘the practice’ much more in line with those of an instructor or teacher, facilitator and often simply a collaborator. I met with people in my studio and usually painted or created right along with them. Many people have not painted or created on a regular basis since their early school years and my goal was simply to create; show them the method, a particular medium and let them be free. It’s pretty informal to start, generally with a painting, usually wet on wet, sometimes just a hand full of clay.

From there we observe the artworks themselves; thoughts and feelings about the process and perhaps what could improve it.

The media

Sunday — watercolor

Monday — slanted line drawing

Tuesday — charcoal and early childhood fairy stories

Wednesday — dynamic form drawing

Thursday — geometric drawings

Friday — chalk pastel atmosphere

Saturday — still life

There are a wide variety of media that can be engaged, as well as any combination therewith. The journey of each media is a simple exercise that can be built upon and can grow and develop. More advanced exercises follow, and biographical stories and poems emanate from holding the experience.

Is this the about box?

I have attended a wide variety of anthroposophical art workshops and courses at several programs for over 35 years, including Illuminism Workshop Series, Rudolf Steiner College, the Goetheanum, the Emerald Institute and Tobias School of Transpersonal Arts.  I’ve facilitated small groups in a wide range of artistic media.  I recently graduated from the Bay Area Healing Through Arts program in April of 2025.  I teach introductory woodcarving and clay modeling to Waldorf teachers, BACWTT students and at the SF Waldorf High School. Prior to that he worked as a resident aide to young adults with neurodiversity.
